"Point Mugu State Park features 5 miles (8.0 km) of oceanfront beaches, palisades, and chaparral-covered mountains. The park includes two major canyons with seasonal rivers and grassy valleys highlighted with oaks, sycamores, and the occasional native walnut tree. There are more than 70 miles of hiking trails and a 2.9-mile loop trail, which is generally considered a challenging route. It takes 2 hours and 8 minutes to complete the entire trail. Point Mugu State Park also offers a wide array of activities like hiking, running, camping, swimming, mountain biking, picnicking, wildlife viewing, and horseback riding. POINT MUGU STATE PARK REVIEWS

Gorgeous beach, small, fun rocks to explore, a bit of sea life and most importantly not crowded! There is a BBQ area and picnic tables along with shaded trees near the parking area. Very nice touch!.

It is amazing! I've been doing this hike for 10 years and it is always like a new experience. It looks so beautiful and green now with all the rain. You will love the views!.

I absolutely love this park beach!! The views are fantastic. It was one of the many stops we made on our pacific coast highway trip. Highly recommend.

RANCHO SIERRA VISTA/SATWIWA REVIEWS

Great Easy hike through vast meadows with mountains views leading to a serene 100’ waterfall cascading gently over sheer rock faces into natural pools, that are teaming with life. We found frogs, newts and tadpoles. Recommend this hike in temps lower than 85 degrees. The meadows and trail are full sun until you start down into the canyon where it is fully shaded. We did it in 90 degrees, it was rough. Great family outing, bring a picnic lunch to enjoy on a perfect huge flat rock just in front of the falls, in a shady covering of oak trees and ferns. Please keep it clean and pristine, pack out everything you brought in and more if you see something left behind.. We made a video on YouTube show casing this spot and how to follow the trail markers to get to the waterfall and pools. It’s called “Serene 100 foot waterfall hike in Santa Monica Mountains, a sycamore canyon adventure”.

A huge expanse of nature so easily accessed from the urban area. So fortunate to have this beautiful preserved open space in our area to hike, walk dogs, mountain bike, see wildlife. Particularly stunning right now in March since all the rains.

Beautiful trails with rocky mountains in the background. My favorite place to hike and mountain bike around Thousand Oaks.

SANTA MONICA MOUNTAINS REVIEWS

Fantastic experience in Santa Monica. I went there for training at Channel Island Navy Base. I met great people and ate delicious food. The Pier is wide, you can find many vendors along the pier. You can listen to music play by local musicians. The public restrooms are clean and overall is a good atmosphere for family, and friends.

Overall, it was an amazing place to relax and visit. I drove from GOLETA, CA, to LA and stopped in the Santa Monica Mountains, and it was truly amazing. The weather was beautiful, and the views were off the charts. Just a quickpit stop while on my drive.

Great area to hike since we were here in February. I am not sure when it gets really but really enjoyed our stay since we only hiked King Gillette Ranch and Malibu Creek State Park regions of this national recreation area.
