Worth hiking. Must get a reservation to enter at a specified time. Constant flow of people on the trail. Beautiful 360 view up top. Going to the left when you see the sign is the easier way up. We decided to go down the other way to experience the spiral staircase and the 99 stairs in an easier way. I did this hike in sandals. Tennis shoes would be preferable.
A good hike that is not too strenuous. It gets a little crowded at the top but the views are definitely worth it with one side being the vast pacific ocean while the other a nice skyline of the city of Honolulu. It is advisable to have a hat and water, but it is also not too long of a hike (approximately 1.5 to 2 hours to and back).
It's the trail and viewpoint that epitomizes Hawaii. The trail course is easy with a moderate distance, but wearing sneakers is essential. The view of Waikiki and Ala Moana from the viewpoint is the best in Hawaii. It's always busy, so reservations are necessary. If you're visiting Hawaii, this trail is a must-visit.
