A trail with rail steps leading all the way up was a first for me. It's really unique and the view is enjoyable. Don't be worried from the other reviews, the hike itself is relatively easy. It's just like any other northeast hike without the shade. I went out at 3 pm, so I was quite hot and sweaty. One water bottle was enough for me. I didn't wear any fancy shoes or gear. Walking up took 27 minutes, and coming down took 15 minutes. Parking lot to summit. There is plenty of free parking at the baseball field. No fees. Restroom at the bottom. Service all the way up to the top. My favorite part was walking the stairs over the two drops. There are bypasses if you need them. Be careful if it's raining, and the other reviews mention not to go on Saturday because of a nearby shooting range. Know your limits. Enjoy!
Fun hike up to koko head but it is not for someone who is out of shape. It is a lot of steep steps which a bridge section that has a small drop although that can be avoided by taking the detour. So it in the morning with cooler temperatures and wear proper hiking footwear as the beams can be slippery from due. Bring water! Also bring a flashlight or headlamp so you can see where you are stepping if you go early for sunrise
Great stunning views and a killer hike. Definitely worth the work and effort. Arrive before 7 am and bring a flashlight because it is dark. There are small markers on the side of the trail (26) I believe. It took me a while to get to the top because I had to do a lot of stops but it was well worth it. The views were stunning. Free parking, no fees, just make sure to carry your own trash down with you.
