The Colorado Freedom Memorial is made of glass representing Colorado's mountains and blue skies, standing 14 feet tall and 125 feet long. The monument is surrounded by a four-acre park, allowing for private and public events to commemorate those lost in battle. The Memorial is developed from a collection of symbolic and representative metaphors to create a dynamic and meaningful visitor experience. The memorial's vision is to provide a place of beauty and reverence where family and comrades can find peace in the memory of lost loved ones. First, visitors approach the starting point of the wall, and a small water channel emerges from the Memorial's base. This symbolic strip of water represents the oceans and honors their loved ones crossing to battle on behalf of their nation. Next, as visitors approach the end of the path, they enter a large circle representing the world as a whole. Finally, they walk along the circle's perimeter and approach the Memorial wall, intended to denote the divide in the world created when their country is at war.
