Boxwood Hall State Historic Site is a historic house museum that was built about 1750 and is a National Historic Landmark for its association with Elias Boudinot, who lived here from 1772 to 1795. Boxwood Hall State Historic Site was also home to Samuel and Elizabeth Woodruff, Hannah Boudinot, Susan Dayton, and their staff, both free and enslaved. Boxwood Hall State Historic Site has a very rich history that connects it with an early mayor of Elizabethtown, a President of the Continental Congress, the first President of the United States, the first Secretary of the Treasury, and three signers of the United States Constitution. Boxwood Hall State Historic Site is designed in the center hall Georgian style, built with a wing on either side of the present building. The remaining frame, interior paneling, and floors are largely original. Visitors can learn about Colonial life and America's early aristocracy.
