Ritz Theatre & Performing Arts Center provides a magnificent 1,700-seat theater on the ground level. The theater was a cultural landmark through the 1960s when it entered a period of decline. The three-story complex has a loge and balcony with 1,080 seats occupying the top four floors beneath the roof. This is a fairly wide building with a deep pitch that allows anyone to enjoy any concert from any seat. The 2,800-seat theater provides a half-ton chandelier, murals, tiled floors, carved crown moldings, and impressive marble floors. Over the years, many legends have performed on this majestic theater’s stage, including the Marx Brothers, George Burns, Jack Benny, Ray Charles, Harry Chapin, Maya Angelou, Chaka Khan, Rodney Dangerfield, Miles Davis, and many others.
