“Historic Stranahan House Museum is the home of Fort Lauderdale pioneers Frank and Ivy Stranahan. The house is the oldest surviving structure in Broward County. The museum aims to tell the story of their association's birth through the lives of two extraordinary people and the homestead they built, serving as an enduring heritage for preserving history. The museum is a wood-frame vernacular structure with wide porches and a stunning view of the New River. The house has served as a post office, community center, trade post, and town hall. The house has played a major role in the economic and social life of this community. The house was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973 and today operates as a historic house museum. Historic Stranahan House Museum offers self-guided tours and free admission.”
