“Geneva Woods Birth Center is led by Barbara Norton, CNM, WHCNP, MSN, CNS, who has been a nurse since 1978, a nurse practitioner since 1985, and a midwife since 1994. The mission of the midwives of Geneva Woods Midwifery is to meet their clients' emotional, physical, and spiritual needs and provide the physical space, whether in the birth center or hospital; women can trust in birth and in the power of their own bodies. They aim to have happy moms, healthy babies, and families strengthened by the childbirth experience. Their nationally accredited birth center offers a comfortable and calm environment as an alternative to the hospital. They endeavor to provide an atmosphere where families can feel safe, nurtured, and in charge of their birth experience. Geneva Woods Birth Center has welcomed over 1200 babies safely into the world since 2002. They practice a traditional Midwifery Model of Care that is also evidence-based. They have toys and books for kids and a microwave, hot pot, coffee machine, and fridge for family use. They encourage women to eat and drink freely in labor as well as before going home with their newborn.”
