He specializes in a comprehensive range of orthopedic conditions and injuries, including those affecting the ankle, elbow, foot, hip, knee, and shoulder. Dr. James Flanagan is particularly interested in joint replacement procedures and the management of sports-related injuries. Dr. James is the chief of orthopedic surgery at Cape Fear Valley Health System. In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. James Flanagan actively contributes to medical education and sports medicine. Dr. James is a preceptor for the Duke Medical School Residency Program and holds the associate professor position for the Physician Assistant Program at Methodist University.
