3 Best Places To See in Akron, OH

We had our first trip to Stan Hywet for my daughter's birthday this year. It is a beautiful building with such rich history. They do an amazing job decorating for the holidays! We would definitely go again! With that said, there are a couple things to know. Our group had five adults, a 13-year-old, an almost 4 years old, and a 10-week old. Be aware of that inside the Stanley Hywet estate you cannot take strollers and will have to carry small children. This worked fine for our 10-week-old but are almost 4 year old was very impatient and he's a super energetic kid so he didn't want to stand still while we were walking through the building. They do a nice job of directing people throughout and expect to be sort of walking in a long line throughout the entire building. We carried the kids through the gardens outside. Also don't plan to be able to push strollers outside unless they're the really nice ones that go over bumpy terrain well. The gardens are beautiful but the pathways are very old stones that makes strollers go very bumpy over them. As long as you plan for these things, you won't be disappointed.

This was our first time visiting Stan Hywet. We spent a few good hours exploring the house and the gardens. I wish my home had immaculate details like this. Walking into the manor is like jumping through a time portal. It felt as if someone still lived there. It felt untouched. The staff members were very nice and knowledgeable. We were on a self guided tour, but they were willing to talk about the history of every room with us. We can’t imagine how amazing the gardens look in spring. We will definitely be back next year to see all the blooms. However, the fall colors in the gardens were breathtaking. The greenhouse is full of tropical plants I’ve never seen before! They also had fruit trees such as limes, oranges, and a banana plant. There is a children’s play garden with a mini playground that looks similar to the manor. There are interactive areas too for kids. There are fun facts and the information boards have interactive pieces. Can’t wait to visit again.

This place is an amazing work of history. We have been in the fall time several years ago, and we finally visited again yesterday for Christmas. If you're into history, architecture, or nostalgia, you just have to experience it.

The Akron Art Museum is a must-see in downtown Akron. From Keith Haring, to the latest "Glow" exhibition, it's a great place to spend time with family or friends checking out some eye catching collections! And it's FREE on Thursdays (when they're also open late) if you want to stop in and see what it's about with no commitment.

Akron Art Museum really exceeded my expectations! The two featured exhibits were phenomenal! I appreciated the info on the walls and the audio that played when the viewer stands in a certain marked spot in front of each art piece. I highly recommend the museum - fabulous gem in downtown Akron.

I love the Akron Art Museum! It's a great place to spend a few hours and see some amazing art. The museum has a wide variety of exhibitions, so there's something for everyone. The building itself is also very impressive. I highly recommend this museum to anyone who loves art.
