The zoo has been accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) since 1989. Your membership helps feed and care for over 1,000 exotic animals, including grizzly bears, Sumatran tigers, African lions, Humboldt penguins, Komodo dragons, and more. The zoo has over 400,000 visitors annually. Akron Zoo is also a member of the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums and the American Public Gardens Association. Members can get free parking, a free e-newsletter, a gift shop, and discounts. Akron Zoo offers free admission for children under two and its members.
