"Customs House Museum & Cultural Center features fine art, history, and children's exhibits. The museum has a rich history, initially serving as a Federal Post Office and Customs House to manage the significant amount of foreign mail resulting from the city's flourishing tobacco trade. The museum also housed the Clarksville Department of Electricity before becoming a museum. The museum aims to collect, preserve, and interpret historical, artistic, and scientific material, with over 35,000 square feet dedicated to the region’s best hands-on activities and special events, and explore an entire city block featuring large gallery spaces filled with fine art, science, and history. Customs House Museum & Cultural Center's special photographers and videographers also assist with documenting special events and programs held for their visitors and members.

“Fort Defiance Civil War Park & Interpretive Center provides opportunities for exploring the historic site differently. The museum is located on a bluff 200 feet above the confluence of the Red and Cumberland Rivers. The museum covers an interpretive center and features exhibits about the surrounding area and the fort during the Civil War era. Fort Defiance is the site of a Civil War fort, and this celebrated park offers an interpretive center with various exhibits. The museum has a free parking area and leads into the visitor center. There is a great walking path around the grounds. The film inside the visitor center gives you some great history of the town and the war.”

I would really like to add a feature to the Customs House which would be a section of art made for the visually impaired . I want tactile observation to which we can put on blindfolds and feel the art and have to describe the art without vision. Only using touch, sound and smell. It would be expressions made either by visually impaired persons or with the visually impaired in mind. A very committed artist might even do it blindfolded and add elements to enhance the piece and have elements to manipulate like music or sounds to see how that changes the experience of that piece. It would be interesting for critical thinking to show up to a section and have to experience the work with a blindfold. I would like too, the experience to be recorded/noted. We could have an iPad or something with a guestbook with speech to text enabled for it to scribe the descriptions of observations. I would also like it to note either the observer is actually visually impaired or just experiencing the exhibit blindfolded.

A general interest museum, The Customs House Museum included pictures, paintings, trains, a tradition fire engine, and do much more. Of special note is the John Sharpe exhibit of photorealist paintings, the birds paintings, and of course the model train room - truly impressive. The was a children's play and explore area and a lovely gift shop. Definitely, it's worth a stop if you are in Clarksville, Tennessee.

Well worth a visit when in Clarksville Tn. New exhibits on a regular schedule. Awesome experience. Would recommend becoming a member and getting the Family plan as there is a reciprocal admission plan with many other museums and venues.

ROXY REGIONAL THEATRE REVIEWS

This theater is so cozy and vintage. I loved every part of it. The play we saw was Steel Magnolia's. The ladies did an AMAZING job. Each played their part so well. Ouiser stole the show with her performance. She made me laugh so much! AMAZING performance. I have already bought tickets to Tiny Tim in November. I can not wait to go back! I highly recommend this venue for a wonderful evening or afternoon out.

Loved their showing of A Charles Dickens Christmas. Not the classic but a fun take on it's creation. A fun performance set in a small theater setting and friendly staff. No photos or recordings of the show because of copyright reasons.

The Roxy has always been a favorite of mine. The recent picture is from the production Matilda.

It's free to go too. Cute little gift shop with great prices! The trail is easy and the staff are super friendly!! The cannons were so cool to look at. Very informational. Absolutely loved the little museum.

Awesome historical site. Loved the serine atmosphere and hike, or trail to walk. We enjoyed the beautifully kept grounds and markers of informative breakdowns of historical facts and area plants etc.

Go behind the building for an overlook of the city center. Inside the building are lots of historical facts and a film you can watch. Occasional events. Totally worth a few minutes of your time.
