“Customs House Museum & Cultural Center features fine art, history, and children's exhibits. The museum has a rich history, initially serving as a Federal Post Office and Customs House to manage the significant amount of foreign mail resulting from the city's flourishing tobacco trade. The museum also housed the Clarksville Department of Electricity before becoming a museum. The museum aims to collect, preserve, and interpret historical, artistic, and scientific material, with over 35,000 square feet dedicated to the region’s best hands-on activities and special events, and explore an entire city block featuring large gallery spaces filled with fine art, science, and history. Customs House Museum & Cultural Center's special photographers and videographers also assist with documenting special events and programs held for their visitors and members.”
