This is a huge memorial museum. It takes hours to go through the entire things. They have worked hard to preserve this piece of American history and it is definitely worth visiting. They also have a small air hanger with planes inside as well as a submarine that you can explore. The majority of the ship is not air-conditioned and can get very hot during the summer. Bring lots of water to drink!

The MMoA is a hidden gem and well worth a visit. I'd recommend at least two hours to enjoy it. First, explore grounds. There is a beautiful lake and a bridge which is perfect for a nice stroll when the weather is favorable. It's quiet and there is plenty of free parking. Second, take your time touring the gallery. The featured exhibit until May 3rd is The Art & Design of Mardi Gras. It is breathtaking! The costumes from HBO's Treme provided a real history lesson for me.

$10 entrance fee to this excellent museum about the area. Exhibits are tastefully and interestingly presented and cover indigenous tribes to European settlers, civil war, reconstruction, world wars, civil rights right up to date. We've visited a few museums on our Deep South trip and all of the municipality museums are good, but this has been the best. Educational, inspiring, well done!!
