Today, the zoo is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization owned by the city of Providence, accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, and certified by American Humane. Boasting naturalistic habitats, the zoo is home to over 160 species of animals, including the majestic Komodo dragon, as well as red pandas, Masai giraffes, African elephants, snow leopards, bears, anteaters, flamingos, sloths, alligators, and more. In addition to providing an opportunity for visitors to marvel at these creatures, the zoo creates engaging experiences that inspire and empower guests to join in the conservation of wildlife and wild places.
