“Roger Williams Park Zoo became one of the country's oldest zoos, showcasing a collection of small animal exhibits throughout the newly formed Roger Williams Park in Providence. Today, the zoo is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization owned by the city of Providence, accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, and certified by American Humane. Boasting naturalistic habitats, the zoo is home to over 160 species of animals, including the majestic Komodo dragon, as well as red pandas, Masai giraffes, African elephants, snow leopards, bears, anteaters, flamingos, sloths, alligators, and more.
