Green Owl Cafe

one of my favorite spots for vegan food in madison. never had something i don’t like here, although i usually find myself getting the steak bomb sandwich every time because it’s just that good. staff are always really friendly, desserts are soo tasty as too. i love bringing people here.

Well, that was possibly the most delicious lunch I’ve had in a long while. My first trip to Madison for work and Green Owl will now be in my favorites list. The holiday lunch at work was a bit of a let down for vegan options so I ordered in and my gosh, I’m so happy I did.

Solid vegan place well worth trying in Madison. Though there's nothing wrong with it, I would say that it's not my favorite place in the area, for reasons that you might completely disagree with. They're taking more of a natural approach to cheese sauces in particular, making several dishes (like the nachos) have a sort of odd texture and flavor (to me). Of course, vegan cheeses leave a lot to be desired in general, so until a more realistic and tasty alternative appears that appeals to everyone, if you prefer the "nut cheese" approach to things, this place might be your best bet.
