I wish I could've spent more time here exploring. What I did see made me want to see more, though, I don't know how much more there was to see. I saw the interior exhibits of carved things and clothing. What I wanted to see more of was the insides of the earthen houses outside. I enjoyed hearing the men on stage singing and drumming. I liked seeing the different regional Alaskan groups posited on the map, which made the distinctions clearer. Great job, Heritage Center!
So grateful for the heritage center passing on our culture to our people and visitors as well. Amazing store and exhibits. Expect to pay more in the store compared to other places in town. Worth it because they have things nobody else has, but something to be aware of.
Such a cool place to visit! I'd love to come back when they have events going. I loved walking around the lake and learning more about the different tribes including their lifestyles and typical dwellings.
