“Chugach State Park is one of the four biggest US state parks. This massive park has a coastline, mountains, glaciers, lakes, camping, a ski area, and a nature center. The trail covers around 495,000 acres of land and has more than 280 miles of trail. The elevation gain of the trail is 29 feet to 7795 feet. The trail is generally considered a moderately challenging trail route. The site contains ocean shorelines, large lakes, massive glaciers, and ice fields. The park on the western foothills of the Chugach Mountain chain, the park's westernmost boundary, is just 7 miles east of downtown Anchorage. The lakeside trail runs along the shores of Akutan Lake for 12.7 miles (20.4 kilometers). Chugach State Park hosts a wildlife range, including large mammals such as moose and black and brown bears. Chugach State Park offers information to travelers, outdoor and interpretive activities, deck viewing, and facilities for public use.
