“2026 Update: Memorial Art Gallery is founded by Emily Sibley Watson and given in trust to the University of Rochester. They occupy the southern half of the university’s former Prince Street campus. Memorial Art Gallery is home to a permanent collection of more than 13,000 objects and presents a journey through over 5,000 years of art history, from relics of antiquity to works in contemporary practice. They offer a broad panorama of global art and maintain a 14-acre campus that serves as a public art space and a destination for Rochester residents and visitors. Memorial Art Gallery provides a year-round schedule of temporary exhibitions, lectures, concerts, tours, and family activities that support ongoing engagement with art and culture. They honor the culture, heritage, and contributions of Native peoples and recognize their stewardship of the land they occupy. Memorial Art Gallery aims to highlight the significant and diverse contributions of Native Americans to art, culture, and society to encourage positive change within their community.”
