M & M BAKERY & DELICATESSEN REVIEWS
This place has some of the best baked goods ever! I have a huge sweet tooth so I've been to my fair share of donut joints, but this place has hands down the BEST apple fritters I've ever had! They're warm and crunchy on the outside, but soft and oh so ooey gooey on the inside. Not to be dramatic, but these apple fritters changed mah life! I was going to save some for my friend to try but it was literally so good I devoured the whole thing. Also got their sticky buns, baked cinnamon roll, and donut holes and they did not disappoint. The owner was so so kind and personable - conversations here always brighten my day and you can tell they really take the time to get to know their regulars. It's not surprising at all that there is always a line for this place because everything here is to die for. I would suggest coming earlier in the day because the donuts and rolls get snatched up real quick. The prices are very reasonable considering how gigantic their baked goods are. Due to Covid, the dining area is closed, but you can place an order to pickup or order at the window (just remember to bring your mask!). This is a must if you're ever in Kansas city and I would seriously consider making a road trip just to get my hands on their DELICIOUS baked goodies. Reviewed this place on Yelp AND google just cause I want everyone to know how amazing it is.
First stop after arriving in Kansas City. Ordered the hook em up sandwich and a cinnamon roll. I am not a fan of cold sandwiches but this one was really good and the cinnamon roll tasted like a next level donut. People kept coming in during the little time we were there and the customer service was great. Very nice, welcoming people.
Love this place! The bread was super fresh and the sandwich was made neatly. The apple fritter, cinnamon roll and cookies are huge! Fresh and delicious. Prices are great. Definitely will continue to visit.

MCLAIN'S BAKERY REVIEWS
I had an awesome lunch here, the chorizo sweet potato quinoa bowl was perfectly cooked with a runny egg on top. I loved all the fresh veggies mixed with the chorizo, and made for a very filling meal. The Mac and cheese with chicken and pesto was delicious as well. For pastries, we tried their mini pumpkin cheesecake which was off the charts delicious, and the caramel pecan cheesecake, again amazing. The chocolate muffin with espresso whipped cream was very yummy as well and not too sweet. Definitely big enough to share and perfect with tea or coffee. I didn’t try their coffee but they had an extensive drink menu. Their pies looked amazing and they had a large variety like apple, berry, pecan, German chocolate. The service was very friendly and they made us feel very welcome.
My mom grew up in the Waldo neighborhood and went to this location as a child. I was so excited to be able to preorder a cake online at the last minute for her birthday. I arrived in town, swung by McLain’s, the cake was ready and perfect, and I was off to her last minute, surprise lunch! The cake tasted amazing, was super moist, and was really pretty. I ordered the modern classic style of cake, with red velvet cake, and cream cheese filling.
Hands down some of the best pastries I have ever had. Moist, delicious, flavorful, not overly sweet. Delectable. Came in from Maryland, made sure to get some mini cupcakes and pastries to go for the drive back. Will be back next time we are in town and highly recommend to friends, family, and anyone in the area.

HEIRLOOM BAKERY & HEARTH REVIEWS
I would highly recommend checking this place out. A small menu with a good variety of choices. Had the mushroom toast and hibiscus limeade tea. One of the best mushroom dishes I have ever eaten, the tea was flavorful and refreshing. Honey oats desert was fire, bought four to take home. Staff was awesome.
Prompt and friendly service, even during busy hours. We had never tried the food here (besides pastries) and were blown away! Biscuit sandwich with turkey, Brussels sprouts, bacon jam and maple glaze with a perfectly cooked easy egg was to die for. Chorizo burrito was flavorful and had a delicious, tangy tomatillo salsa on the side. The drinks, cranberry orange seltzer and black sesame vanilla chai latte were just as good if not better than the food. Clever and creative food and drink, expertly executed. 10/10 would recommend for foodies and normies alike. Keep up the great work.
I come here a few times a month and my favorite dishes are the avocado toast and the breakfast burrito! They are a lil pricey but the quality is superb! I love the aesthetic inside. The scenary on the patio is very pretty in the warmer months with the Vines and sunflowers.
