“Saint Mark Catholic Church has become the largest and youngest congregation with over 2,500 families and almost 4,000 children in the religious education system. The church has experienced significant growth. The church began as a mission in the neighborhood, inviting members to attend Sunday mass in the rectory's living room and the Benito Martinez Elementary School. The parish quickly grew and also raised funds for the construction of a multipurpose building, which was completed in July 1996 and blessed by Bishop Ochoa. Saint Mark Catholic Church also includes a multifunctional building housing offices, classrooms, and a hall that serves as a temporary refuge as the neighborhood develops alongside El Paso's rapidly growing east side.”
