Good Shepherd Catholic Church is one of the most beautiful churches in Garland. The church was founded in 1946. In 1953, 200 Catholic families planned to build a church, school, and auditorium. The church features stunning architecture. The 21,712 square-foot church has seats 1,340 and is three times larger than the original church, which was built in 1954. The three-hour dedication was held in the handsome structure, built on an open design of wood, stone, and marble, said Kay Moore. There are numerous stained-glass window installations, including one depicting Christ as the good shepherd. Good Shepherd Catholic Church had 600 Roman Catholic families in Garland at this time, which is a far cry from the three people of the Catholic faith in Garland in 1923.
