Holy Name of Jesus Cathedral took over from the Sacred Heart Cathedral. The church is a Catholic cathedral serving as the seat of the Diocese of Raleigh since 2011. The church provides sacramental life, including Baptism, First Holy Communion, and Confirmation, and hosts significant pilgrimages, liturgical celebrations, and events for the Catholic community in eastern North Carolina. As the bells toll, the faithful exit the mass, having been initiated into the church's sacramental life. Moreover, the parish emphasizes prayer as they seek God's grace, power, and blessing in diocesan masses, such as the Chrism Mass for his men. Holy Name of Jesus Cathedral can host over 2,000 worshippers and is a significant location for major liturgical celebrations, pilgrimages, and events for the Catholic community in eastern North Carolina.
