Croisan Creek Trail reminds me of those I've hiked in Portland's Forest Park, but on a much smaller scale. It's very quiet, provides a workout with uphill climbs, and offers beautiful scenery. The unpaved trail gets a bit muddy in the winter (just wear boots), but in the summer it's perfect, with a tree canopy that offers protection from the sun and heat. Also, there was very little to no Poison Oak along the path, which was a bonus. This is without doubt my favorite hiking trail in Salem!
Good dirt trail with a surprise patch of pavement in the middle. Most of the trail is only wide enough for one person so watch out for the bikes that also use the trail. There is a 300 to 400 foot elevation difference over the approximately one mile length of the trail. The trail travels through a wooded hillside that is surrounded by homes.
I love this trail! A beautiful little trail that sneaks between houses in South Salem. I have visited many times and have shared it with my family. I look forward to visiting again.
