My favorite place to see nature and get a good relaxing 5+ mile walk in! There are 3 parking lots w/ porta potty's. A big dog run next to the 2nd lot. Lots of offshoot paths from the paved trail. I see bunnies, eagles, blue herons, ducks, snakes, voles, otters, chipmunks, squirrels, butterflies, berries, fruit treats, nut trees. There's a fishing dock near parking lot #1 pond. The main path is completely paved.
Great place for a long or short hike with or without your pooch! The trails are large and fairly clear of mud, depending on the trail you decide to hike. There are always people here either at the dog park or walking around the park taking it all in. Don't forget to hike with a buddy if you're planning on hiking the long trails because they will take you far into the expanse of Salem's rural areas.
We like to go to this park because it is so walkable and the dog area isn't full of unfriendly regulars like some of the local dog parks are. Great place if your looking for running paths, biking paths, or just for a nice place for a stroll.
