Great Bridge Battlefield & Waterways History Foundation promotes the history of the Battle of Great Bridge, December 9, 1775, and the region's Revolutionary War and canal history. The museum educates the public about the importance of these events in the creation and growth of America. The building features eight galleries, including a battle room, a waterways room, and a re-creation of the Three Tun Tavern. Great Bridge Battlefield & Waterways History Foundation is also a family picnic area and a future memorial to the British troops who lost their lives during the battle. The museum's park with walking trails and interpretative signs is open from sunrise to sunset daily. A free docent tour is available by appointment only.
