Fantastic restored home. Volunteers are extremely helpful and knowledgeable. There are so many things to see in the house. Love the details in the chandeliers. Some are gas and some are electric. A few are both! Plan on about 90 minutes if you go. That would be plenty of time to see it. Well worth the visit. Close to downtown Akron.
I've been to dozens of historic homes and Hower House is one of my favorites. The home is unique and beautifully furnished. The volunteers that conduct the tours and run the gift shop are friendly and knowledgeable. The most outstanding feature for me though was that they offered chairs to sit on in almost every room, which was essential for my elderly mother to enjoy our visit.
You must make this a stop on your site seeing trip in Akron. This is a beautiful home that has been restored to its glory, now under the guidance of the university. The volunteers who work here are the reason this is a must see. You won't be disappointed.
