Incredible experience!! I had my first baby here in Winter 2018 and it couldn’t have been better. I switched my OB care to Alma after moving to Portland when I was 34 weeks. The transition was seamless & care was SO much better with Alma than my previous provider. All of the birth teams were incredible & I would’ve loved any of them to attend my birth. The facility is so cozy and welcoming - each birth suite is gorgeous & joyful. After my birth, I had to go to the hospital for some extended care & one of the midwives drove me herself and stayed with me for the whole procedure. Our stay in the birthing suite after baby was so relaxing and homey. I cant imagine enjoying a hospital room compared to the suites at Alma (see photos). Alma Grubhub‘ our meals for us & even set up a sitz bath for me the next morning. Post natal care includes a home visit for week 1 and 2 check ups, which is *so* incredible because you don’t have to pack your newborn into a car to go anywhere. I had a health concern with breastfeeding & they saw me the very same day and went above & beyond to ensure I had a timely appointment when referred for further care to Providence. So outstanding. My husband and I were so sad to have our last appointment there & transition to the Pediatrician because it felt like we were leaving our family! I wouldn’t hesitate to return to Alma in the future & it’s my #1 recommendation for any mama to be. I can’t say enough good things about Alma and the midwives who work here. I was always treated with respect and given autonomy to make the choices that were best for me and my family. The midwives are professional, kind, and extremely knowledgeable. Alma’s model of care allowed me to be confident and feel completely safe in my birth experience, which is such a gift! I’m so grateful for the care team that took care of us and supported us for almost a year. I highly recommend Alma to anyone looking for an out of hospital birth experience.

I am so thankful to have had this place caring for me and my baby. Truly a magical gem of an atmosphere. I felt so safe and accepted in their care. Not only was the baby and I receiving care but knowledge as well. They took the time to educate me on my body and baby's. My hospital experience with my first was traumatizing. This place was a night and day difference. I will miss coming here for myself and for my babies care. I'm thankful how communal the space is and the connections that were created from Alma. <3 I also took my toddler to some appointments when I didn't have someone to watch but wanted my partner there. There is a little play area and they did a really good job accepting and embracing the family as a whole. The love here is so real. All of the staff works really hard and I'm blessed to have had such a hard working team. 10/10 would highly recommend if this seems like your vibe.

The care I received from these wonderful people empowered me to be able to have my second baby at home. I had wanted my first child to be a homebirth but we needed to switch to hospital care about 2 weeks before giving birth, which was a hard decision. Being able to have my 2nd child at home was amazing. During my labor they were so tuned in to the balance of allowing me to naturally go through my process and offering gentle guidance which was really helpful. Their care before and after was amazing - thoroughly knowledgeable while also allowing space for me to navigate my own decisions. I really valued the evidence-based knowledge that they would share each step of the way while also not adding unnecessary fear or stress to the equation. Their post-natal care was incredible as well, coming once a week for six weeks. They even had the equipment to do the infant hearing test at home! And its so great not having to drive to appointments to allow your body to recover. They even helped me figure things out when my milk supply was low - I felt so supported! I felt pretty fond of these women by the end of my journey! I just felt like I could really trust them and they were really warm and relatable. You would be lucky to have their care for your pregnancy and birth!

There aren't enough words to describe how wonderful Hearth and Home midwives are. I had my first and third babies with their practice and I believe their care is unmatched. They are thorough, while at the same time honoring the client's choice, free of judgement. They helped me feel empowered. They were intentional about making sure this was a special experience for me. They answered whatever wild questions I may have had. They exude professionalism wrapped in love. They went the distance for me -literally- for my first birth and handled what could have easily been a traumatic experience for me with such skill that I was unaware of the severity for a very long time. I didn't think it would be possible to have my baby at home because I lived so rural and am forever grateful that I got to have my first birth at home. After using different providers for my second birth due to a December due date and H&H midwives being on break, it was an easy decision to work with them for my third pregnancy even though I was again, out of their service area, which required of me some extra drive time etc. They are accommodating and flexible -with boundaries of course- and really go the ex

When my husband and I found out I was pregnant, I knew I wanted the most holistic, natural birth possible and to break away from the hospital paradigm. I researched and met with multiple midwives and nothing felt right until I found Hearth and Home Midwifery. Pregnancy and birth is such a vulnerable time in our lives and I needed women that I felt comfortable sharing things with no matter the topic, to feel heard and trusted, and to meet me where I was at through it all. Working towards a home birth was the best decision i have ever made. My husband was skeptical at first but after each prenatal visit, he became more and comfortable and trusting of the natural process and the expertise of our midwives. Charli, Sarah & Emily were the best team for us and really made us feel comfortable and ready as first time parents. They gave us all the knowledge and tools to handle some obstacles we encountered health wise, always giving us informed choice and letting us decide what was right for my body, our baby, and our family. We had a wonderful water birth at home in our living room thanks to Hearth and Home Midwifery. Any future babies we have will be with the Hearth and Home ladies.
