“2026 Update: Griffin Museum of Science and Industry is formally called as Kenneth C. Griffin Museum of Science and Industry. The museum is a private, non-profit science museum housed in the Palace of Fine Arts since 1893, the World's Columbian Exposition. The Museum's most popular exhibits are the German submarine U-505 (Type IXC), which was captured during World War II, a United Airlines Boeing 727 and the Pioneer Zephyr. MEDIEVAL TORTURE MUSEUM REVIEWS

This was a very informative and horrific experience. It was sad to learn how people were being tortured throughout the years but it was educational to see each torture contraptions. I enjoyed the interactive elements, audio guide and ghost game that was included in the price. The experience took about 2 hours but that’s because my group went slow and we were discussing the torture methods, taking pictures and reading the history behind them. Just be cautious, parking is a bit difficult to find and expensive. There is parking right behind the torture museum and it is really really expensive for honestly anything over 1 hour, which we didn’t realize until later.

It’s an interactive walk through of a bunch of different devices. Only some of the devices are interactive and they have plaques with the history of each device or its use. Surprisingly some of them are still being used today which was interesting to learn. A very cool experience. I would like to mention parking off of the “side streets” in a parking garage and walking is your best bet. We parked about a block or two away and it ended up being a very short walk.

Had the most fun here. Highly recommend following the audio guide & take your time to read through all the exhibit postings. LOVE that you can interact with the exhibits.

GRIFFIN MUSEUM OF SCIENCE AND INDUSTRY REVIEWS

Simply stunning. The layout is wonderful and prevents over crowding. We were there when they opened and stayed for about 5 hours. The exhibits are so well done and there is something for people of all ages. The food court has good quality options from burgers and fries to salads. The coat check was so convenient and the staff all around were so nice. We did the U505 tour and I can't recommend it enough. It really tied the whole exhibit together and was something I would not want to have missed. I firmly believe if I went back today I would find a 100 things I didn't see the first go round. The ticket prices were very reasonable and we will be back

We have been to this museum twice and absolutely love it. Our son loved it at 8 and also at 10 years old. He is very into STEM. His favorite things at the museum have been the model of Chicago with the trains, the baby chicks and eggs, and the weather area. He also still really likes the Idea Lab although it says it’s from ages 2 - 10. After 2 visits we still haven’t see everything and can’t wait to go back. If we lived closer we would definitely become members.

Absolutely loved this museum! We spent 5 hours here! So much to see and learn. I would go back! Awesome seeing the U505 Submarine! They had a large train depiction showing history of trains from the beginning to today. They had lots more as well!

FIELD MUSEUM REVIEWS

Its always an adventure going to the Field museum. This was my 2nd visit, and there is more I have yet to see. The big staggering dinosaurs and mammoths in the entrance welcome you, but at the same time humble you in recognizing your own small foot print. We learned about plants, different animals as they evolved through the earth's transformations. AND we saw Sue the Tyrannasaurus. They also had awesome rides for all of our inner child thrills.

The Field Museum is huge with so much to see. I only had about two hours and it definitely wasn’t enough to get through everything. You’ll want to set aside at least 4–5 hours if you really want to take it all in. The exhibits are jam-packed with fascinating info about animals, dinosaurs and so much more. My favourite sections were the plant exhibit and the jade collection. Such a cool and immersive museum overall.

Absolutely wonderful and amazing! They have so much great information and amazing specimens. The temporary After the Age of the Dinosaurs exhibit was so well done and organized. The Sue exhibit is awesome, and it's so user friendly for everything. You literally can't see it all in one day!
