Old Cowtown Museum is a unique outdoor living history museum in Wichita, Kansas, offering a vivid step back in time to the city's early days as a booming cattle town from 1865 to 1880. Walk the dirt roads and immerse yourself in the sights and sounds of the Old West. The 23-acre site features over 50 historic and recreated buildings, including homes, a saloon, a blacksmith shop, and a period farm. Experience the past through costumed interpreters, hands-on activities, and a rich collection of artifacts. It's a fantastic place for all ages to learn about frontier life and the dramatic transformation of Wichita from a small settlement to a bustling agricultural and manufacturing center. Don't miss the staged gunfights and the chance to sip a sarsaparilla in the saloon! A must-visit for history enthusiasts.

This was such a cool place! We LOVED it! So amazing it feels like you went back in time! We very much appreciated the buildings with air conditioning. Also we loved the we could eat our picnic in the porch of the visitors center. Lovely museum!! Highly recommend!

This was an unexpected treat! This town is very well preserved. Many of the shops are exactly as they were in the1800 's and still serve the visitors. We got there right at opening so there were no crowds. We were told it got busy around noon.

Museum of World Treasures is a fascinating place filled with incredible artifacts from around the world. From ancient civilizations to modern history, each exhibit is well-curated and educational. It’s a great spot for families, history lovers, and curious minds of all ages. The museum is clean, organized, and full of surprises—definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area!

Had a great time at this museum, so well curated. And the staff we dealt with was amazing. I wish we would have had more time to really soak in the information, there was alot to take in and we were on time crunch. We were able to see all the exhibits though and everything was so cool.

Will admit I was super skeptical BUT they had an amazing curation of Egyptian, Greek, and American history and artifacts!! The two mummies on display were surreal (in terms of how old they were and wondering about their story). If you love history and museums you have to visit!

Amazing experience! We used the museum as the venue for our wedding and it was absolutely amazing! It was so beautiful, the staff helped with the table and chair set ups, the kids had a blast, and everyone was absolutely fascinated with the views and the history. We had about 200 people attend and it never felt crowded. Everyone had a blast! Thank you Kevin and the rest of the Kansas Aviation Museum staff that made our day so special! Once we get more photos back I’ll post more.

Highly recommend this museum! I have been to a lot of museums (including the Smithsonians in DC) and I thought this was one of the best and most personable of the ones I have been to. I was not expecting to be able to go into the airplanes that were outside- it was so cool to see the planes up close! The museum staff were so knowledgeable and fun to talk to as well.

Amazing place! Really loved how they captured the entire aviation history and how this was born in Kansas. The relics they have available are in great shape and condition! Definitely a place worthwhile to visit and enjoy the ride of history lane!
