"Dr. Thangamani Muthukumar did his MBBS at Madras Medical College, University of Madras, and his MS at Weill Graduate School of Medical Sciences of Cornell University. He obtained his MD at Stanley Medical College, India. He is board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Internal Medicine (Nephrology). Dr. Muthukumar's research primarily focuses on the molecular aspects of kidney transplant rejection and kidney diseases in bone marrow and stem cell transplants. His research has been supported by grants from the National Institutes of Health and the American Society of Transplantation. Dr. Muthukumar also obtained advanced training in research methodology and graduated from the Weill Cornell Graduate School of Medical Sciences with a master's degree in Clinical and Translational Investigation. 2026 Update: Dr. Thangamani Muthukumar is a fellow of the American Society of Transplantation and the American Society of Nephrology. He is involved in teaching and mentoring the next generation of health care providers. He works as an ad hoc member of the NIH study section. Dr. Thangamani Muthukumar works at the NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital as an Associate Attending Physician. He is a member of the American Society for Clinical Investigation, the National Kidney Foundation, the Indian Society of Nephrology, and the International Society of Nephrology. Dr. Thangamani Muthukumar has been invited to speak at the Indian Society of Organ Transplantation Annual Conferences in both Chandigarh and Aurangabad, India, and State of the Art Symposia, World Transplant Congress, San Francisco. He also serves at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and at the Hospital for Special Surgery as a nephrology consultant."
