" Dr. Anand Murugan Murthi received his medical education at the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. He is board-certified in Orthopaedic Surgery by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at George Washington University School of Medicine. He finished his fellowship in shoulder and elbow reconstruction at the New York Orthopaedic Hospital-Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center, and his fellowship is internationally recognized. He currently practices at MedStar Union Memorial Hospital, and he is the Chief of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery. Dr. Murthi is the current section editor for the "Current Orthopaedic Practice" journal. He has published and presented numerous research papers at national and international conferences. As a teacher, he has taught physicians around the country about the surgical techniques in shoulder and elbow surgery. Dr. Murthi was elected to the Neer Circle of the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons Society (ASES) and is the current co-chair of the Mid-Atlantic Shoulder and Elbow Society. He has been involved in the development of numerous implants for clinical care. He speaks English.
