The closest experience to a traditional Irish pub, the McGills renamed the establishment Dubliner Pub. While today’s patrons “drink up,” the building originally served a very different purpose, opening in 1894 as a tack supply business, where customers would “hitch up.”The McGills later developed the pub’s predecessor, Horbach’s, in the basement space, which once functioned as a coal intake and storage area.
