FREEMASON ABBEY RESTAURANT REVIEWS
Stopped in for dinner tonight. Made a last minute reservation online and they honored it and got us seated right away. Kharol was our server and she was fantastic. Informative and friendly and quick to keep drinks filled. Ordered the honey fried chicken and Mac & cheese, and the beef tips and pasta. Apricot bread pudding for dessert. The food was wonderful. Full of flavor and cooked perfectly. The building is beautiful and tastefully refreshed. If we were locals we would definitely return!!

NO FRILL BAR AND GRILL REVIEWS
No Frill once again succeeds on all fronts. I haven't been to the eatery in several years and stopped in with a friend in February 2024, with an hour to go before we were due for a live theater show in downtown Norfolk. We let our waitress know that we "had a deadline" and sure enough, she delivered. My pal and I both ordered the reliable BBQ meatloaf with mashed, crisp green beans, two onion rings and sweet cornbread... which came out promptly. The potatoes could have been hotter, but all else was divine. Plentiful, flavorful and well-presented. We were in and out in 40 minutes. Once again, despite its horrific name, No Frill is one of the best restaurants in Norfolk. A+.
My husband and I come here all the time. I finally got one of their salads. I really don't think I'll get another. First time ever that I picked my food more than ate it. But hey, it could have been a not for me kinda salad. The raw peppers made it taste off, and some of my lettuce might have been on the near bad. First time I've been disappointed at No frills. But everything else I've eaten before was awesome.
Loved this place! The salad was delicious! I had the Spotswood Salad with blue cheese and parmesan pepper. My only regret is not saying "no mushrooms and onions". Highly recommend!

The Public House is Ghent's premiere gastropub, situated in the city's heart. Gastronomy means the work or art of choosing, cooking, and tasting good food, and the Pub indicates a tavern or bar. The Restaurant is Upscale comfort fare with a Southern spin, joining Belgian ales & craft drinks in a dark-wood space. Their menu is a testament to culinary excellence, offering an array of gourmet dishes that will satisfy the most discerning palates. All you require to know is if you have anything at The Public House, from the ice cream to the corned meat to the mozzarella sticks, it's all cooked fresh in-house. Their team never executes anything from frozen; okay wise guy, the ice cream is cold, but after they churn it from pure components. The Public House chef assures its customers to have their fantabulous seasonal cuisines and give extraordinary service in a one-of-a-kind setting. A gluten-free menu, weekend brunch, bar dining, and full bar facilities are available. Chicken Wings, Buffalo Chicken Sandwich, and Salad are highly recommended dishes. THE PUBLIC HOUSE REVIEWS
I inquired about a private event for about 25 people and Public House did a bang up job for us. They were so gracious to work with me to make it special for my daughter. We offered a limited menu to keep things streamlined and the manager and his staff were on top of everything. We even brought in a monitor to play a video and we appreciated that the back room has a door to actually keep it private. There's a back door for the servers to go back and forth to the kitchen which was so well thought out. Thank you for hosting us for the evening and making it a memorable event for our family!
Nice little pub. Prices were reasonable, food was delicious, and portions were generous. Wife said her drink was good and strong. A bar and a nice number of pool tables, if that's your kind of thing. Definitely plan to return.
Great spot, great menu, great staff - come down to give their menu a shot. My wife loved their fried fish, daughter had Mac and cheese, I had a great Cuban sandwich. Kevin took great care of us.
