3 Best Barbecue Restaurants in Atlanta, GA

I recently visited Fat Matt’s Rib Shack in Atlanta and tried the 1/2 rack of ribs, the pulled pork sandwich, and the chicken breast sandwich. Let me just say, I was impressed! As someone who doesn’t usually enjoy the food scene in Atlanta, this place completely changed my perspective. The ribs were tender, smoky, and perfectly seasoned, with just the right amount of sauce to complement the flavor without overpowering it. The pulled pork sandwich was rich and juicy, piled high with meat that melted in my mouth. The chicken breast sandwich was also a standout .. flavorful and cooked to perfection, with a great balance of texture and seasoning. The casual, laid-back vibe of the place made the experience even better. It’s definitely a spot I’ll be visiting more than once. If you’re in Atlanta and looking for barbecue that hits the mark, Fat Matt’s Rib Shack is a must-try!

Great atmosphere with very friendly staff. Ordered the combo plate with collard greens and Brunswick stew. Every element of this meal had its own flavor profile and was amazing. The ribs and the chicken were fall off the bone tender. The collards may be the best I’ve ever eaten…soaked up the juice with a piece of bread…GOOD!!!

Was referred by a friend to check out this local pillar of barbecue goodness and I’m so glad we stopped in. Had the ribs, the chicken, and a few sides and none of it disappointed. Quick friendly service and a simple dining area. Don’t come expecting glamour and glitz. Come looking for dang good food and leave happy and full!

O H MY GOD. The best BBQ i think I have ever had. Its a mix of classic BBQ style and Korean flavors. Not to mention also, maybe the best mac and cheese I have ever had! I always judge a BBQ place by how good their mac and cheese it, and this was literally one of the best. The shell noodles and the cheese was perfect. We came here on a Friday around 4-5pm so we beat the dinner rush and missed the lunch rush. Perfect timing, as they said they do get very busy. The chef was so nice and gave us some free BBQ sausage to try in addition to our order, delicious. Ribs, tender juicy and flavorful. I dont think ive ever had collared greens, but here they were delicious! I cannot say a bad thing about this place. Its in an unassuming portion to the right of a convenience store. Everything is all to-go, so you can eat at some tables outside which are stand up tables only. Service was fast, friendly, and efficient. Highly recommend to stop here in Atlanta!

Staff was very helpful, polite and welcoming. My first visit I got the Korean sweet and spicy smoked wings and Brunswick stew. The flavors were great, the accompanying sauce was decent but I preferred the excess wing sauce in the bottom of my container. This place is pretty much take out only but does have high tops for standing dining which is my only complaint. It would be nice if there were barstools added around the table for a quick non server assisted meal but I’m sure the reasoning for no chairs will be pointed out to me in the comments. Overall great meal and nice staff…..I’ll be back to explore more of the menu!

Awesome! Tight parking. Order using your phone, but then give your name to the servers who circulate. It's better to buy your drinks next door at the bodega. The food comes out fast, even with a long line. The mixed Korean / southern pork was amazing, especially with kimchi coleslaw to enhance the flavors. A must during any trip to northern Atlanta.
