"Great China was founded by Mike and Jenny Yu in 1995. The restaurant provides Northern Chinese foodstuffs using the best of Northern California’s bountiful land and offers an award-winning wine list, local beers, and superior spirits. In 2012, James and Tai Yu reopened the restaurant in this location. The lead chefs have been working at Great China for over 20 years preparing the dishes by using fresh and natural ingredients. Customers are allowed to make online reservations for parties of 6-14 and provide vegan and vegetarian options. Must try their Pork Dumplings, Seafood Fried Rice, Mongolian Beef, and Pot Stickers. They have high chairs to accommodate the kids. The restaurant provides take-out, delivery, and catering services. Great China accepts credit cards for the customers' bills.

I had the pleasure of celebrating my 41st birthday at Great China Restaurant, and it was an unforgettable experience. The food was absolutely delicious—every dish was packed with flavor and cooked to perfection. The service was top-notch —friendly, attentive, and made us feel truly welcome. The atmosphere was warm, family-friendly, and perfect for both kids and adults. I’m so glad I chose this place for my special day. I’ll definitely be coming back and highly recommend Great China to anyone looking for amazing Chinese cuisine and a great dining experience.

Great China is probably my favorite Chinese restaurant in Berkeley. I’ve been coming here for 20 years when it was a tiny restaurant a couple blocks from the current location. The food is tremendous and is always fresh and perfectly prepared. I think the lunch specials are a great deal with big portions. The shrimp dishes are all excellent and so is the fish. And I love the sautéed green beans and the snow pea leaves.

Recently went here for a birthday dinner for my sister and had an amazing time. The service was exceptional. The food was really good and they even cut our cake for us. Such a great memory at a great restaurant. Thank you. Great China.

CHENGDU STYLE RESTAURANT REVIEWS

The dishes were authentic Sichuan flavors. The lamb soup, in particular, was exceptionally tender and flavorful. If you’re a fan of spicy food, this place is a must-visit. The staff were both friendly and attentive, ensuring we were well cared for throughout our meal. I’ll definitely be returning to explore more of the menu.

Super authentic! The food was amazing and the staff were super sweet. We got the sausage, the intestine, the yu xiang rou si, and the hou rou with cauliflower. All incredibly authentic with large portions. Service was amazing and they gave us three extra zong zi for free.

Tasted great! Really authentic SiChuan food and very nice workers as well. We ordered beef rolls, pork wontons, the spicy wings and a vegetable dish. It was very delicious and we finished it all.

What a surprise! I stopped going to this local restaurant pre pandemic because the whole experience had gone downhill, both in house and to go. Now many years later I really wanted szechuan food and decided to give them another try. What a change for the better! The order was ready on time. The containers were bulging with food. the cumin lamb was no longer 90%peppers. The chow fun was not swimming in oil. The food was delicious and plentiful. We will certainly be back and I'm so delightfully surprised in this time when restaurants are feeling the pinch. Everything was so different and just what I wanted.

Authentic Sichuan flavors with good sized portions. Comparable to China Village up the street but I actually like the seasoning here better - especially for the numbing spice dishes. The restaurant space is nice if a bit dated.

Really great restaurant with very fresh food. The vegetables are always top quality. The meat is delicious.
