Excellent food! Excellent service! Great ambiance! This is my favorite restaurant in the Santa Rosa area. It has been around for years. Their French inspired food is still the best! I always look forward to their Beef Wellington, followed by Chocolate Mousse. This time their included soup was a great Minestrone! My wife usually has the escargot in garlic and parsley butter. We share the fresh bread dipped in the escargot butter. They also have some good champagne selections like Schramsberg and Veuve Clicquot. They also have old favorites like Chateaubriand for two, and Cherries/Berries Flambee. The crafted wood furniture, scenic artwork, alphorn, and Swiss cowbells all contribute wonderfully to the French-Swiss ambiance. All on all, my favorite pick for classic French dining. Another excellent dinner at La Gare this year! We had Beef bourguignon (Beef Burgundy) and Wild Alaskan Salmon.

What a wonderful place to celebrate my husband’s birthday. When we first were seated at a small round table the seats were wooden and the waiter came over to offer us cushions. That was very welcome and thoughtful. . The atmosphere was warm and reminded me of the restaurants we visited in the south of France. My husband ordered the rack of lamb and I ordered the special which was sole wrapped around a crab cake. We both loved our dishes and everything was delicious!! The servings were so generous that I wound up taking half my entree home. The service was great. So happy we found this place. We will definitely return.

Overall, it was an excellent experience. Staff and top were top-notch. Definitely recommend the lamb rack. All main dishes come with complementary soup and saland; huge! The atmosphere was okay. I would like to see a little more effort on the interior finishes and lighting design .

AUGIE’S FRENCH REVIEWS

Our lunch was fantastic. We sat outside on the cute front patio and enjoyed dining in the sun, protected from by the black and white striped umbrellas. I had a glass of Chablis which was nice along with the endive salad and the omelette. Everything was perfect. My husband had the burger which was one of the best we’d had in a while. Fries were good too. 10/10 recommend. Can’t wait to go back.

Ben was our server and he was impeccable with assisting us in our selection and paring. The duck Confit was out of this world, our special was the black cod and that was in point melted in the mouth.

Love the place . It’s very cozy. The service is amazing. Everything tastes delicious and the staff are friendly.

Great from start to finish! Andrea at the counter is kind and efficient. Service with a beautiful smile. The ham & cheese croissant is incredible! Good coffee. The restroom is not only clean but nicer than most people's bathrooms at home. The dining area is calm and beautiful and there's tons of outside seating.

Very nice double decker sandwich. A little heavy on the horseradish. Back goods are to die for! Highly recommend.
