Blandford Nature Center is 264 acres of natural land on Hillburn Avenue Northwest in Grand Rapids, MI. The Nature preserve center has eight trails that are open every day in every season from dawn till dusk. It covers a total area of 264 acres consisting of wetlands, meadows, fields, and woods. The trail is a well-wooded area for kids and adults to grow together and learn about the birds and animals. Visitors can also enjoy outdoor recreational activities and educational programming year-round. Blandford provides a diverse range of experiences to support its goal and vision, including dynamic partnerships and innovative programming for people of all ages. Blandford Nature Center offers free admission for members.

Here’s The Deal:
Provin Trails is a natural-surfaced trail that offers a wide range of beneficial activities for hikers and skiers. It is a 46-acre forested park with interconnected loops of natural trails for hiking and cross-country skiing. It has many different scenic views, including wooded areas, rivers, and even a sanded dune area. The Park is an excellent mixture of hills and flat areas. The trails in the park are mostly very well-groomed and easy to navigate. The trails are well-marked with decent, moderate climbs and descents and an ideal spot for advanced and young explorers.

Calvin Ecosystem Preserve & Native Gardens is a nature preserve located in Grand Rapids, MI. Its mission is to conserve, restore and interpret native ecosystems to inspire people to value and protect the wonder of creation. The Ecosystem Preserve features 44 public acres of forest, wetlands, and native gardens. Over a mile of trails are available for wandering, taking in the beauty of each season, and discovering flora and fauna of West Michigan. Trails are open every day from dawn to dusk; admission is free. The Bunker Interpretive Center is a LEED-certified education center open M-F, 9 am-4:30 pm, and features interactive seasonal displays. A variety of educational programs for all ages are offered throughout the year. Calvin Ecosystem Preserve & Native Gardens is the perfect spot for a family hike on the weekend.
