" Guardian Building is a 43-story office skyscraper located in downtown Detroit at Griswold Drive. The building is a Class-A office, owned by Wayne County, Michigan, and serves as its headquarters. The Guardian Building was originally called the Union Trust Building. The building has been declared a national historic landmark and is considered one of the boldest examples of Art Deco architecture. The building's exterior features a granite base, Corrado Parducci carvings, and multi-story windows framed by glass. The building's main frame rises 36 feet high, with one of two spires reaching about 131 feet. Guardian Building provides spacious office space on a full floor right in the central business district, ranging from 1,000 to 16,000 square feet. The building also offers retail and tourist gift shops.

2026 Highlights: Guardian Building offers event space to host a variety of gatherings. The building is made of almost 2 million custom “Guardian Bricks,” and the five-story Michigan Mural was created by Ezra Winter. "

FISHER BUILDING REVIEWS

We couldn't visit Detroit without stopping at this gorgeous, architectural beauty! Being in our mid 60's we've really come to appreciate the workmanship, materials, and creativity from the early 1900's. There are organized tours on Saturdays for a nominal fee, we were so disappointed we couldn't have stayed. It is so worth a stop in...to appreciate the mosaics on walls and in the flooring. Photos can't begin to capture the size nor the grandeur. We spent about 45 minutes admiring so many aspects of this gem, including how massive it is from the outside views at the street and when driving in. A marvel.

What a beautiful building. The architecture and details inside are amazing. It's nice to see such history rehabilitated. A few stores, coffee shoppes, and places to grab a bite. There's also an old style pharmacy, which I found neat.

Beautiful art and deco style building with cultural heritage! Must visit if metro Detroit area to appreciate the beauty of old classic architecture masterpieces.

GUARDIAN BUILDING REVIEWS

Trying to see all the great architecture in Michigan and decided to finally check out the Guardian Building on one of their tours. Our tour guide was fantastic, and did an amazing job of weaving the information into a story and not just robotically spitting out facts. The building itself is a marvel to behold and the details on the ceiling of the "Grand Hall" and what was done in it's construction to help control noise was very interesting. Really wish it would be possible to see it all in it's original state, but there's enough history preserved to enjoy the wonder of this amazing building.

Beautiful art deco building. It is definitely one of a kind. They have beautiful murals and stained glass. It's a must do tourist spot and not crowded at the time we went there on a weekend. It has event space available as well.

This is a stunning art deco building that you can walk around in. I recommend stopping by and admiring the ceiling work.

MICHIGAN CENTRAL REVIEWS

Michigan Central Station is one of Detroit’s most impressive landmarks and a remarkable example of historic architecture. Thanks to Ford, the extensive restoration has transformed this once-abandoned station into a beautifully restored building while preserving its original character. The quality of the restoration work is exceptional, and the exhibits throughout the station do a great job of highlighting its significance in Detroit history. The fact that there is free admission makes it an easy and worthwhile stop for anyone visiting the city.

We were lucky enough to get tickets for one of the few Candlelight concerts at the station. It was amazing to sit in that space and listen peacefully, in a place I thought I would never see inside of before it got torn down. The restoration is amazing and I can't thank Bill Ford, Jr. enough for saving this gorgeous piece of architecture and Detroit's history.

A Philanthropic effort worth visiting. Free to enter and wander. Tours also offered but we decided to self guide. The open spaces and group spaces were beautifully and meticulously restored for public enjoyment. Relax in their Study and spend a couple of hours learning about Detroit's tech endeavors. It is a quiet space so loud children may cause awkwardness, but people understand and will just look away.
