“2026 Update: Ford Piquette Avenue Plant is a former car factory built in 1904. It was the 2nd center of automobile production for the Ford Motor Company, after the Ford Mack Avenue Plant. The museum created and first produced the Ford Model T, and is credited with initiating the mass use of automobiles in the United States. Ford Piquette Avenue Plant was the first factory to feature more than 100 cars assembled in one day. The museum is the oldest purpose-built automotive factory, which is open to the public and received 31,000 people in 2018. Field, Hinchman & Smith is the Architect of the Ford Piquette Avenue Plant.”

DETROIT HISTORICAL MUSEUM REVIEWS

This place is a hidden jem. The museum is located across the DIA museum, and I'm surprised by how I've seem to have missed this place. The DHM teaches you about the history of Detroit, and how we came about to be. This museum is HUGE, so go with a clear mind, a well fed belly and your walking shoes lol. There's many interactive stations for kids and parents and the museum did NOT forget a single point of Detroit's history. I 10/10 recommend going here when you're in the area alone or with your family!

Love this place. Been there multiple times. Been lucky enough to get in for free each time. They do have parking. Always very friendly at the reception desk before you enter. Also have a gift shop with unique Sports merchandise would definitely recommend

The place is very informative and a great place to spend a few hours. The staff are very helpful and kind. Ample street parking nearby as well.

FORD PIQUETTE AVENUE PLANT REVIEWS

The Piquette Plant has some of the coolest vibes if you are looking for a unique location and experience to hose your wedding. We have photographed several weddings here and are always excited to come back. The ceremony space is open, welcoming, and well lit. Guests love walking around and looking at cars during cocktail hour. The dance floor is big enough to host your guests, yet always seems to be packed. From a photography standpoint, the various backdrops Piquette offers are unlike anything else you will find in the city. In short, highly recommend!

One of the most impressive museum experiences I've ever had. The museum and information is incredibly impressive and shocking, but getting a private tour (free) from the guide is truly what made this experience unforgettable. This an absolute must-see in Detroit as it ties together the boom of the industrial revolution with an incredible story that changed the world. Will absolutely be back again.

This place was wonderful. Learned SO much about Ford motor company and the automotive industry in general. We had a GREAT tour guide who was SO knowledgeable. Tour lasted 1 hour and 40 minutes. We'll worth the admission price. I recommend this place to anyone interested in the history of the automobile.

DOSSIN GREAT LAKES MUSEUM REVIEWS

This place is super nice and the employees are extremely helpful. They have many interactive exhibits. The coolest exhibit to me was a ship cabin control station that overlooks the water. While I was there, in the control station overlook, a barge went by. The station was donated from an actual ship that was demolished. There are so many amazing places to visit on the Island you really have to spend a day there. I have lived in Michigan my whole life and never knew this Island had so many attractions. I will be returning.

As a person that loves ships on the Great Lakes, this was a great stop. Unfortunately, the museum was closed, but I was still able to take a look at an Edmund Fitzgerald anchor that was recovered in the 90s. It was on display outside. What a beautiful spot in Detroit! The museum looks beautiful, someday I’ll get in there.

Very cool family friendly secluded spot with hands on exhibits and interesting history. Lots of real artifacts and something for everyone.
