Ann Fairfax had built a respected tavern with a loyal following from West Hills residents. Bud also owned “The Spatenhaus,” a tavern once located at the current site of the Ira Keller Fountain Park, across from the Civic Auditorium. There, he attracted an eclectic crowd of PSU students, musicians, business professionals, and free spirits. When the building housing the Spatenhaus was demolished in November 1967, many of Bud’s patrons followed him to his new location.
