Imperial pints of draught and cask-conditioned ales, as well as traditional English and American pub fare. The pub provides both in-house and to-go dining options. They invite you to stop by the Pub next time you’re in town to enjoy their award-winning Halibut Fish & Chips and a proper pint. The Horse Brass was the perfect venue to pioneer these beer styles that had been absent since Prohibition, especially given its location in prime hop-growing country. This early, visionary promotion of craft beers, brewers, and the supporting industry helped establish the Horse Brass Pub as a mecca of the movement. They provide rotating beers, hearty British fare and darts.

2026 Update: Deschutes Brewery is the beer brewed on-site and gourmet pub grub in a converted auto-body shop with a fireplace and wood beams. Their community has always been there for them, and they strive to always be there for their community, from Bend to Portland to the earth they all share. Gary Fish started a small brewpub in downtown Bend, naming it after the nearby Deschutes River. His vision was to create a welcoming gathering place where friends, families, and neighbors could come together and enjoy house-brewed beer. After opening Deschutes Brewery and its Public House, the community quickly embraced it. People came to relax, sample the food and beer, and share the experience with others. In its very first year, the brewery produced and sold 310 barrels of beer. The brew pub’s 26 taps offer Deschutes mainstays plus a selection of seasonal and experimental beers developed and brewed on site exclusively for the Portland pub by their brewers. They offer outdoor seating and great cocktails.

1927 Southwest Jefferson Street,
Portland, OR 97201 Directions

Since 1967

Specialty:

Chips With Melted Cheese And Salsa Seafood Dungeness Crab Cocktail Veggie Pizza Gluten-Free Pizza Whiskey & Coke Wayfinder Black Lager

2026 Update: Goose Hollow Inn is a classic Portland tavern (so don’t call to book a room), opened in 1967 by Bud Clark. The Clark family continues to own and operate the pub, which remains a beloved local institution. Stop by to support this family-owned spot. In May 1967, when the neighborhood had fewer buildings and less traffic, Bud Clark purchased Ann’s Tavern on SW 19th & Jefferson. Ann Fairfax had built a respected tavern with a loyal following from West Hills residents. Bud also owned “The Spatenhaus,” a tavern once located at the current site of the Ira Keller Fountain Park, across from the Civic Auditorium. There, he attracted an eclectic crowd of PSU students, musicians, business professionals, and free spirits. When the building housing the Spatenhaus was demolished in November 1967, many of Bud’s patrons followed him to his new location. Today, the pub continues that legacy, offering outdoor seating, great cocktails, and a welcoming atmosphere.
