The cathedral is under the provisions of His Excellency, the Most Reverend Barry C. Knestout, Bishop of the Diocese of Richmond. The church is home to the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite (Latin) Mass in Hampton Roads, offering Daily Confession, Daily Mass, and sacraments according to the liturgical books of 1962. St. Benedict’s Parish is dedicated to nurturing a profound relationship with God, following the teachings of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, and finding spiritual guidance within the Catholic Church.

2026 Highlights: Saint Michael’s Youth Group is an organized ministry for teenagers aged 12-18 that provides opportunities to grow deeper in the Catholic faith through engaging teachings, fellowship, and prayer. The Traditional Latin Mass, also known as the Tridentine Mass, is the form of the Roman Catholic Mass codified by Pope Pius V in 1570 and used widely until the reforms of the Second Vatican Council in the 1960s. Celebrated in Latin, it follows a structured, solemn ritual with the priest facing the altar (ad orientem), and includes specific prayers, chants, and gestures. Key components are the Prayers at the Foot of the Altar, the readings, the Offertory, the Canon of the Mass (with the consecration of the Eucharist), and the concluding rites. Gregorian chant and silent moments are common, fostering a contemplative atmosphere.

PRINCE OF PEACE CATHOLIC CHURCH REVIEWS

Although I am not a member myself to this church my parents are members and have been for over 30 years now and they love it here. I just went along with my mom and my son to a spaghetti dinner that the church was holding along with a raffle last weekend and it was definitely a good experience and I was glad I was able to go. Everyone was very friendly and the good was delicious there were plenty of items up to buy raffle tickets for and the service was good as far as receiving drinks and your spaghetti plate. Plus they even have homemade desserts as well. The pastor here at this church who I am not sure of his name is a very friendly man and I did enjoy meeting him and he was really welcoming and was sure to speak with everyone that attended. My mom really talks highly of him and my dad recently passed away in May and they had his service here at Prince of Peace and I know that this pastor went above and beyond for my dad's services and even went out to the funeral/cemetery site which was about 40 min away in Suffolk and that meant a whole lot to my mom and to our family just how much the pastor went above and beyond for my dad and his passing means the world to us and will never be forgotten. Thank you so much for being such a kind and genuine man that showed sympathy especially to my mother during this difficult time in her life. You truly are a gift from God sent to this Church and I do plan to attend a mass soon . Thank you.

It is a wonderful and loving Parish. The community is warm, caring, and welcoming. Staff and volunteers are all dedicated to supporting all members and visitors. It is a place I can call home.

We got our Christmas tree here. We've been here previously to get one, and each experience is better than the last. Would recommend looking here for your tree.

Lovely community and church. Very active parish, many loving volunteers. And there's a great playground just outside for the little ones after mass!.

Everyone was friendly, welcoming and helpful.
