“The Cathedral of Christ the Light, also named Oakland Cathedral, is the cathedral of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Oakland. Christ the Light, the first cathedral constructed entirely in the 21st century. They replaced the Cathedral of Saint Francis de Sales, which was irreparably damaged in the Loma Prieta earthquake 1989. The Catholic Church invites everyone to attend masses and special activities and welcomes them. They continue establishing a network of committed docents and volunteers from the ministry who provide thousands of visitors with knowledge and hospitality. The Cathedral of Christ is a magnificent and inviting venue to experience the sacrament, music, arts, and cultural activities representing Oakland's diversity. The cathedral music program's primary aim is to assist the worship assembly in singing the hymns and answers and raising their hearts and minds through the church's music.
