3 Best Dog Training in Oakland, CA

My girlfriend and I have had some difficulties in training our 2 year old Frenchie at the time. So we were referred to Bryan and April to get the help we need to become confident owners in order to confidently train our dog. Our dog suffered from unwanted behaviors. Luckily Mutt and Tumble were able to create and follow a specific training plan for our dog to help get rid of various negative behaviors such as food aggression and respecting space. They work with each dog individually to curate a specific training plan that will help you as the owner to confidently train your dog after returning from the board and train!

I love Mutt and Tumble! April and Bryan are true miracle workers. I recommend them 100%, after reading a review about an aggressive dog being saved by them from being put down I had to try them out. My mother was having a hard time with her rescue, Matatus. Matatus would not let anyone besides my sisters and mother touch her. After one lesson my dad is now able to touch her as well. I have hope that they will save dogs! They are doing a good deed for society. I have first hand experience with them and they did not disappoint

cannot express enough how grateful i am for bryan and april's expertise with my dog daisy. daisy is a big girl with a lot of energy and little impulse control! we have done a couple of private lessons with trainers here and there throughout the years, but i feel the progress we have made with mutt & tumble is just incomparable. even a year after her board & train, daisy is able to run freely (off leash!) almost daily at our favorite place in the world - fort funston! will definitely be reaching out again for some refresher lessons :)

We have only good things to say about Citizen Canine! Our standard poodle has participated in the Academy program and currently goes to regular daycare a few times/week. Both are outstanding! We initially didn't think we would do the Academy, but are so glad we did. We had attended other training classes, and our dog came in with the basics. But the attention and excellent further training she received as part of the Academy program was ideal. It also got her out of the house 4 days/week, which was important developmentally because she is an only dog and needed to socialize with more people and other dogs. After the Academy, we were able to transition to regular daycare, which is less individual attention. But from what we can see, there is still lots of love to go around. Another thing we really like about Citizen Canine (Academy and daycare) is that they give dogs time to rest during the day. This is important for doggie health and also to avoid injuries and fights. Everyone we have met at Citizen Canine has been friendly and professional. Although it is a commitment to drive there, since we live in North Berkeley, it has been the best choice for us. Highly recommended!

our dog loves citizen canine. he gets excited when he sees the building from our car. we take him here for boarding and daycare. we’ve also done the training (dog academy) with them, and appreciated the feedback reports and homework. the staff is very friendly and kind. you can tell they take great care and love the pups.

Staff is friendly and well organized. Training is excellent (for my 7 month old recently adopted rescue, Daffodil). Juliette always makes time to talk with me about how its going during the day. Daffodil is happy to go in in the morning and happy to see me when I pick her up. Well worth the cost and I know I will be boarding here when I travel.
