I am a simple person from a simple family. Moma came home today and I wanted to share that R. Bernard Funeral Home provided the most amazing support for me at a time I did not know who to turn to. Mom never wanted a funeral or obituary or any pomp and circumstance. She did not want anyone to grieve, but just celebrate life. She had hoped to donate her body to the UT Med School for science research but that was not possible secondary to her Covid infection. As this was a sudden event with little time to plan alternatives, and Warren Jordan's funeral was only 2 months prior, I looked at all options. These sweet people were so kind, so supportive, and have truly made this difficult time possible. Knowing I am back to working nights in the ER, they even brought her back to my home to me today. Most of our family has already passed on, so this will be a very private small event at the seashore, sometime in the Covid future, for her celebration of new life. I posted this to share with anyone in the Memphis area who is looking for alternative options which is not about spending as much money as you can, but providing a source of valuable honor and respect, while guiding and supporting you emotionally through a most difficult process. I pray that none of you may need these services. I pray for you and your families to stay safe. And as a frontline provider in the ER, I pray that you stay home and protect your families in ways that you can by social distancing, washing your hands, and wearing your masks if you have to go out for essential needs.
