"St. Louis Catholic Church is deeply rooted in the nourishment of the Eucharist. In the early 1950s, a piece of land that spans approximately 20 acres was purchased at the northwest corner of Shady Grove Road and White Station. The first St. Louis parish Mass was held in 1957 at the gymnasium of St. Agnes Academy. This journey culminated in the dedication of St. Louis Church on April 25, 1958, with Bishop Adrian leading the celebratory Mass. They strive to embody the Gospel's call to love God and neighbors as themselves, through the pillars of worship, prayer, lifelong evangelization, and youth development. St. Louis Parish is committed to creating an environment where worship and prayer work in harmony to bring about a vibrant and thriving community.

"St. Peter Catholic Church celebrates the history of its parish and also expects a promising future through the Four Pillars of Dominican Spirituality: Prayer, Study, Community, and Preaching. The cathedral has undergone numerous expansions, beginning with the construction of the present rectory in 1873. The subsequent expansions also included the addition of the Crystal Room and former chapel in 1891. The new three-story building was erected, incorporating six classrooms, a parish hall with a kitchen, a choir room, and other meeting facilities designed to be handicapped accessible. Moreover, the new chapel now houses the National Shrine of St. Martin de Porres, a sixteenth-century Dominican and the patron saint of social justice. St. Peter Catholic Church also hosts daily prayers and conducts a wide array of events.

2026 Highlights: The St. Peter Women's Guild welcomes women to grow in faith, friendship, and service. Through spiritual enrichment, fellowship, community service, fundraising, and care for the church and chapel altars."

The church is beautiful - with the classy but simple Christmas decorations. The priest gave a great homily. The choir/cantor sang beautifully yet solemnly. The congregation participated in the Mass - they responded and sang as needed. Great atmosphere to be part of! Thank you.

The parish is beautiful to go with the Lord to visit him in the Blessed Sacrament, very good.

Beautiful neo-Gothic Catholic Cathedral in downtown Memphis. High mass and meaningfully spiritual worship service. If you’re looking for a place to pray and be inspired, this would be a good one.

I decided to go to a different church two Sundays ago and I picked this one and it was a beautiful church centered in a nice spot in downtown Memphis. Service was nice too.

St. Peter is the oldest catholic church in west Tennessee. It has over 180 years of history in the Memphis area. The structure is amazing and the liturgies are beautiful.

ST. MARY'S CATHOLIC CHURCH REVIEWS

I always attend Christmas mid-night mass here even though I belong to another church because the preservation of this church reminds me of my younger days of going to church was all about. The church is well kept and the people there are always friendly. Some newer churches these days have lost their appeal trying to be up to date and more modern but going to a church like St. Mary's helps remind me of what being catholic is all about. I hope this church never has to be torn down for any reason.

While visiting Memphis over the weekend we went to St. Mary's Catholic Church. It is a great old church with amazing details. On the left side of the church, facing the alter is a grotto honoring St Bernadette. Sadly, the parish attendance is down and the church is struggling but it is in perfect condition. The priest was very welcoming to us, knowing that we were visiting. If you do visit St. Mary's Catholic Church and attend mass, please be generous when the collection baskets come around.

Love Love this church. The members are doing so much for the homeless and community. I am so happy being a member.
