It also has picnic tables, a playground, and a seasonal pool with a lifeguard. Roberts Regional Recreation Area is a pleasant destination for picnics, hiking, and sports. The playground includes several rock climbing structures for kids. This park offers vast open spaces, well-groomed paved trails for long walks, playgrounds, picnic areas, and towering redwoods. 2026 Update: Roberts Regional is famous for its fragrant redwood forest, offering one of the easiest ways to experience a walking path. Historic “landmark trees” connected to old Bay Area maritime navigation are commemorated near the Madrone picnic area with a California historical plaque. The park includes the Old Growth Redwood Heritage Viewing Deck and Interpretive Exhibit, which educates visitors about the Bay Area’s ancient redwood forests and logging history."

"Temescal Regional Recreation Area spans over 48 acres of scenic parkland, serving as a convenient urban oasis ideal for outdoor activity. It has wheelchair-accessible features, including a paved trail, fishing pier, and some playground areas. There are picnic spots at both ends of the lake. The park also has a beach house that accommodates 80 seated or 130 standing guests and features a small food preparation room, two rooms connected in an L shape, a bridal room, and a patio surrounded by gardens. Temescal Regional Recreation Area has ample parking spaces. There are many places to enjoy a great picnic and family gatherings in the park. The area boasts beautiful surroundings with many green spaces for relaxation. A large parking lot on the east side and a west-side parking lot are available.

2026 Update: Temescal Regional Recreation Area is conveniently located beside Highways 24 and 13, making it one of the most accessible outdoor destinations in Oakland. The swimming beach operates seasonally with lifeguards on duty and attracts visitors for sunbathing and lakeside relaxation. The lake is regularly stocked with rainbow trout during winter and catfish in summer, making it a favored fishing location."

ROBERTS REGIONAL RECREATION AREA REVIEWS

Roberts Regional is a lovely place to get out of the summer heat or enjoy a rainy winter day in the forest. Just minutes from Oakland and easily accessible to all, you will find big stands of coast redwoods with open forest floor beneath. There are restrooms, picnic tables, and many more amenities nearby, making this a perfect place for family photo sessions. Make sure to check their hours and expect to pay for parking.

Such a clean park. It would be 6 stars but you have to pay $5 for parking. You can always park for free along the road in and hike over but that's sort of a pain with little ones. The park itself is phenomenal. It's the perfect playground for 2-6 year olds. It's large, clean, and safe but challenging. There are several nice picnic areas, and the restrooms are clean.

This park is beautiful! My 2 and 3 year olds had so much fun and my 11 and 12 year olds had a really good time walking around the trees and talking. The playground is big with everything. Slide, ladders, puzzles, swings, and lots benches and picnic tables! The parking is 5 bucks but I think it's worth it for the cleanliness and super fun playground.

TEMESCAL REGIONAL RECREATION AREA REVIEWS

Very nice park with walking and hiking trail with beautiful views around the lake. Good for fishing, having a small sandy beach area but it was closed due to blue green algae hazard. Alot of bbq n picnic areas. $5 entry n parking fee. Really fun for kids as there is play area as well. Restrooms are plenty n clean, and showers as well so you don’t need to worry for a clean shower after swimming.

One of my favorite places to fis and walk. Beautiful quiet, safe and 10 min away from any part of Oakland . Truly a Oakland just stop if u visit the area and like to fish, BBQ, (they have beautiful BBQ pits) picnic, run or jog, also great place to walk ur dogs. Highly recommend.

Nice small park with a lake. Lake Temescal is small. The trail is flat and easy. You can walk around the lake easily under an hour. There’s plenty of picnic tables, grass areas, and fishing spots. There are two playgrounds located at each entrance. It’s a nice gem in Rockridge area.

DIMOND PARK REVIEWS

Diamond Park has much to offer, including a swimming pool. A delightful creek runs across the northern edge of the park. There is a trail that leads past the bridge that connects to Park Blvd. The trail is quite technical and requires excellent footwear and caution. The rain has eroded the pathways in places and makes hiking here exciting. Pack dry socks if you attempt the hike past the bridge, creek crossing is necessary, and I only noticed one suitable place to keep shoes out of water.

I signed up for an art workshop at this park, and it was an absolute delight. The talented instructor provided all the necessary materials, and the setting under the trees and by a tranquil pond was inspiring. The quality of instruction was exceptional, and I created a masterpiece I'm proud of. The workshop fee was modest, making it a fantastic value for both beginners and experienced artists. I'm definitely coming back for more creative sessions!.

Cute little gem hidden in the hills. I enjoyed a nice sunny day there with family and friends. There are tennis courts, public restrooms, barbecue pits and 2 playgrounds for the kids. There are also plenty of benches and open spaces to have a picnic.
