“Tidewater Learning Center was founded by Mary Sexton, M.Ed, an academic diagnostician specializing in learning disabilities. The center has been serving Virginia Beach for more than thirty years. Mary Sexton has been an educator for more than thirty years and has more than twenty years of experience in diagnosis. Christin Rogers is the Assistant Director of Tidewater Learning Center and the daughter of Mary Sexton. The tutoring center currently employs 6 teachers, all of whom have educational backgrounds. Their teachers have been teaching at TLC for over 20 years and are trained to use a multi-sensory approach to instruction and the Orton-Gillingham method to instruction in reading. They strive to provide their students with a warm, friendly, and encouraging environment with an added focus on positive reinforcement. Tidewater Learning Center also conducts summer study skills and learning styles workshops. For students with learning disabilities & ADD/ADHD, provide Educational therapy.”
