Arizmendi Bakery was started as a single firm with roughly 25 people in 1956 and has now grown into a significant international presence with over 100,000 employees across some 250+ worker-owned enterprises and affiliated companies. I love Arizmendi. With several of these co-op bakeries sprinkled around the Bay Area as well as other thin veggie options like Sliver and Cheeseboard, the Lakeshore location is my favorite. Their vegetarian pizzas are so consistently delicious regardless of the toppings and even better, their breakfast pizza on Sunday mornings make my weekend infinitely better.
If you happen to be around please make sure to stop by for a slice of pizza, pastries or bread. There might be a line - the wait is totally worth it, I promise. I love getting a slice to go and walk around Lake Merritt. They also have many drink options and soup. Their staff is super friendly and have a very cool ethos as a business.
The pizza was really good. They have a different kind every day and every time I go I buy one for my friend then just eat it. If you buy cookies you will eat them all like Cookie Monster from Sesame Street.

MARIPOSA BAKING COMPANY REVIEWS
Excellent spot for gluten free baked goods. My wife was in heaven because, for one time in her life, she could order anything she wanted! Food tastes really good and large selection. I recommend the Gobbler sandwich. Many items are frozen or refrigerated. You can also get prepared foods to eat there. They have several small tables and it's a nice atmosphere. Highly recommend.
Bought a bunch of things for a party and they were all delicious, especially the key lime pie and empanadas. Really appreciate that there’s lots of vegan options while still being food everyone enjoys. Customer service went above and beyond when we had a little snafu. Very lovely people, can’t recommend more for that reason.
This place was so amazing that we went back a second time already in our short trip to the area. Everything is gluten free and all the options were tasty-we tried baked goods, hot sandwiches, and coffee. All great. I wish we had this bakery closer to home.

LA FARINE BOULANGERIE PATISSERIE REVIEWS
The best bakery / patisserie in Berkeley. I love their croissant, morning bun, brioche, baguette and sourdough a lot. Falling love with them 36 years ago when I first move to this area. Went back to them for a good croissant has become a regular routine in the last 10 years since I’ve moved to other cities. Surprisingly, their flavors and service are all the same as always. Worth to go extra miles and pay the expensive toll fee to cross the Bay Bridge for the quality. BTW, they make great pies with fresh seasonal fruits from the area, like persimmon, figs, kiwi etc.. And, it’s all good.
Smells of wonderful bread and pastries before you even step through the door. I highly recommend the kalamata olive loaves. We used one of those paired with some salami and Humboldt Fog cheese that we had gotten from the deli next door and made an absolutely scrumptious sandwich. Only one minor critique is that they didn't have a slicer or a way to open the bread so I was forced to use my hands when it came to opening them.
Warning: Bread is addictive. The Fangipane is perfect. It is crunchy and soft at the same time. The flavor is so pleasing. The amount of sweet is just right. Can’t wait to try something else.
