3 Best Donut Shops in Oakland, CA

Donut Savant is arguably THE best donuts I’ve so far found in the SF Bay Area. This spot should be on the bucket list for any out-of-town visitors, as it has an assortment of donuts that is always freshly baked, decadent without being too sweet and a variety of sizes for all appetites. So much of the selection of these donuts have a melt-in-your-mouth flavor that complement a crispy exterior texture with their comforting soft interior. When they are still slightly warm, eating them is easily addicting. Service staff are warm, friendly and knowledgeable about their products. Though there’s not much space on the inside, the space lends itself to easy conversation with others waiting in line and easily fosters a sense of community. There’s some street parking, though it’s available if you don’t mind circling the block a couple of times. Your mouth will be grateful for it. Enjoy.

This place rules. We've loved it since it used to be at 19th street Bart and have become loyal to the East Oakland location. A special gift are their seasonal soufganyot for Chanukah. The vanilla bean custard is otherworldly. This place is just the best.

Such cute and tasty little donuts. Love the variety with classic flavors and some that are a little more non-traditional. Don’t sleep on the fruit jams, they are fantastic, the coffee is great too.

Visiting my son, I came from the East Coast, looking for doughnut culture, and found everything I could’ve dreamed of at Golden Gate Donuts in Oakland. From the simply delicious glazed donuts, to the buttermilk donuts, bear, claws, custard-filled bars, apple fritters, and donut holes to their delicious and humongous breakfast sandwiches – – Golden Gate Donuts is everything I wanted and needed. I am in serious withdrawal right now. And don’t forget the twists. And the cinnamon rolls. I think I’m in a little depression now that I am back home. Please send donuts.

I love this donut shop. I've been going there for awhile now. I try to go every morning to get coffee or tea and a donut. The donuts are fresh and delicious. The owner is very nice. He also sells lots of lottery tickets and his shop is know as a "lucky retailer". It's never too busy and the personal attention to each customer makes the trip worthwhile. I highly recommend this donut shop :).

Really cute donut shop! We went about an hour before closing and the lady serving us gave us extra pastries with our order. Pretty standard donuts, which is nothing to complain about.
