AWAKEN CAFE & ROASTING REVIEWS

Awaken Cafe is a gem in Oakland! The space is clean and thoughtfully designed, with different seating zones that make it perfect for both getting work done and just hanging out. The ambiance is warm and inviting, and the coffee—made from their own roast—is excellent. We had bagels with cream cheese for breakfast, and they were just perfect. Based on that, I’d bet their patties and other baked goods are just as good. The staff are friendly in a way that feels genuine—Oakland-style friendly, meaning they’re not putting on a show, just real and welcoming. If you’re looking for a solid cafe with great coffee and good vibes, this is the spot.

I loved this cafe. Got an Ube latte with the toast. The service was the best out of the 5 cafes I visited in Oakland. I'm also a barista so the coffee wasn't out of this world good but the food definitely is for a cafe. Got a hummus toast w the olives, I don't even like olives but it paired really well. The ube latte was a little grainy for my taste but not bad, just not for me. Seating was ample and handicapped friendly.

I’ve always loved Awaken since moving to downtown Oakland. The espresso is top notch, there’s plenty of space to sit inside, and the Adirondack chairs out front are a sweet place to sip and people watch. Recently they upped their bagel game and do yummy egg and cheese and salmon bagels.

FARLEY'S EAST REVIEWS

It's great to see the foot traffic, energy and vibe returning to Farley's in Oakland. They have weathered the storm of Covid, having provided a refuge to their loyal fans during the most difficult period of sheltering at home for the workers who normally would line up for Farley's coffee. It would be hard to find a management and staff who were as committed to persevere and ensure that the quality of their coffee and food services would not be compromised. Farley's is back, going on 15+ years of anchoring Uptown Oakland's resurgency. I've been taking advantage of Farley's mantra of "You belong here!" to pursue my reading habit since I moved to Oakland from S.F. close to their original opening after 2008. And by the way: their coffee, food and salads are excellent.

THE VEGGIE SANDWICH WAS SO GOOD!!! I added ham to it, but worth the price, it came with salad and was a big sandwich. Coffee is solid, exactly what I want from a coffeeshop. the only reason i put a 4 stars on food is the lox bagel- its good, I’m just a stickler for putting capers on top, they really should go underneath all the topings so they dont fall off. otherwise I love it though. Vibes are wonderulnas well, staff is always friendly.

Love love love this place. Seriously best salads around. Delicious sandwiches - both hot and cold. Service is great, staff is friendly - what’s not to love? Thanks for still being around despite all the challenges Oakland has faced since COVID. You guys are amazing and I hope thriving.

My work brings me here about once a month, because it's the coffee shop closest to my studio rental that open early. I would say I am satisfied when coming here. The service is good, and no fuss. The breakfast burrito was good, and I would definitely come back in the future.

neighborhood staple with something for everyone! lots of delicious sandos, pastries, and drinks. they have pretty good vegan/veg/GF options too. cute vibe, ample seating, kind staff! we’re so lucky to have this in the neighborhood <3 big points for fresh juice made on the spot (NOT pre-bottled) and they have lots of sweet juices and some savory green ones.

Such a cute place! The staff are really sweet and everything here taste great! Thank you to the staff for great recommendations of what to eat.
