“Bitty and Beau’s Coffee is a human rights movement disguised as a coffee shop. Amy and Ben Wright are the owners of the café. Amy Wright was named 2017 CNN Hero of the Year. They offer breakfast sandwiches and burritos, smoothies and sweet treats in a cheery, counter-serve coffee shop. The café is a place where people with intellectual and developmental disabilities are valued in the workplace. The café proudly employs over 450 individuals with disabilities nationwide. Their new program makes it easy for organizations nationwide to fundraise by selling their coffee. Their motto is "Changing the way people see other people." The café has grown to 18 shops across 11 states.”

“Kudu provides a rotating list of single-origin coffees and espresso at reasonable prices. The cafe started as a small coffee house at 4 Vanderhorst Street. Today, they have increased their wine selection and offer over 20 craft beer taps from local breweries. Various teas, fruit juices, pastries, and sandwiches complement their coffee and beer programs. Their sandwiches and pastries are prepared fresh daily by Wild Flour Pastry, Normandy Farm Artisan Bakery, and Saffron Bakery. The Italian cappuccino and ham and cheese croissant are highly recommended at this cafe. They have consciously chosen to foster an environment devoid of Wi-Fi connectivity, promoting in-person interactions and conversations. They extend a warm invitation to you to join them.”

BITTY AND BEAU’S COFFEE REVIEWS

Bitty and Beau's Coffee is a much needed refresher when you're out and about in the SC humid weather. A rustic decor with a touch of modern aesthetics, and tons of southern hospitality. Everyone is welcoming upon entry and helpful with deciding what to order. Drinks came out timely and very tasty. Ordered one of the specialty drinks for the season, "Peanut Butter Java Chip Frappe" and a good ol matcha latte (wife). Both tasted great with no complaints. The shop also has souvenirs to browse while you're waiting for the coffee/tea/snacks. Overall impressions are great. The service highlighted the visit, but the drinks were an extra touch of hospitality. Would definitely visit again when in Charleston. Thank you!

We are often disappointed by local coffee shop fare, but this one was so good I decided to leave a review. The coffee shop was a delightful stop. The atmosphere was dark but comfortable, and the baristas were courteous. The iced matcha latte I ordered was better than Starbucks, and the coconut cold brew that my husband ordered was delicious as well. Above all, I love the mission of this shop, to help all people be seen. I will be making another stop here when I can.

My wife loves her coffee, she can’t function without it and she said this was her favourite coffee by far. Extremely inclusive and kind friendly staff and we love the mission to help people with disabilities get opportunities.

We stopped by Carmella’s late in the evening, and I was amazed to see how popular it was even at that hour—every table was full, and the atmosphere was lively and welcoming. The menu offers an incredible variety of desserts and drinks, all beautifully presented and made with care. We ordered several items to share, and the standout for me was the Key lime pie. It was simply divine perfectly balanced between tart and sweet, with a smooth, creamy texture and a buttery crust that melted in your mouth. Every bite was unforgettable. If you’re looking for a place to indulge in delicious desserts well into the night, Carmella’s is absolutely worth the visit. I can’t wait to come back and try more of their creations!

we soon learned why this place was always so busy - great drinks and atmosphere! go early for some great coffee or a bit later for some creative beverages or even desserts! excellent place for a nice break while sightseeing.

Kudu is hands down one of my favorite spots in Charleston. Whether you’re craving a perfectly brewed cup of coffee or a refreshing craft beer, Kudu delivers every time. The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting — perfect for enjoying a sunny day in their charming courtyard. It is a must visit spot whenever I visit. The staff is always friendly and knowledgeable, and you can tell they care about quality. I love that they support local breweries and roasters, too — everything feels thoughtfully curated. If you’re in Charleston, this is a place you have to check out. Great vibes, great drinks, and an all-around gem!

Best coffee in Charleston, period. I’ve been coming to Kudu since 2016. It’s a great little hangout with a funky vibe, excellent food and drinks, and a lovely outdoor courtyard. Kudu is a must-visit for me when I am in town.

A must stop when I visit this area. The best coffee in the area, especially the caramel cappuccino. Just some really great coffee.
